Product Overview

Purpose-built measurement, clearly presented.

The Model 810H2S is the dedicated Blue Dragon online hydrogen sulfide tape analyzer for continuous selective H₂S measurement in gaseous process streams. It uses lead-acetate sensing tape and optical reaction-rate measurement, with project-specific range, sampling, validation, output, communication, and installation configurations.

For applications requiring both H₂S and Total Sulfur measurement, use the separate Model 810H2S-TS configuration.

Distinctive Capabilities

  • Continuous online H₂S monitoring
  • Single-stream or multi-stream operation
  • Automatic zero and span validation options
  • 4–20 mA, relay, Modbus, and Ethernet integration options

How it measures

Measurement Principle

The analyzer uses lead-acetate tape reaction-rate colorimetry for direct H₂S measurement. A controlled gas sample contacts a fresh section of treated sensing tape. H₂S forms a dark lead-sulfide stain, and an optical detector measures the rate of stain development so the instrument can calculate the hydrogen sulfide concentration.

Project Integration & Support Scope

Blue Dragon reviews the measurement objective, interfaces, documentation, commissioning, and lifecycle requirements as part of project configuration. The scope below identifies the principal items to confirm before order placement.

Measurement Objective
Continuous online selective hydrogen sulfide measurement in gaseous process streams. The Model 810H2S is the dedicated H2S-only member of the 810 tape-analyzer family; Total Sulfur measurement is provided by the separate Model 810H2S-TS.
Signal Outputs
Preliminary configurations provide two standard or up to six isolated 4-20 mA outputs, depending on the ordered system. Relay outputs and service interfaces are configuration dependent.
Data Integration
RS-485 Modbus is planned as the standard digital interface, with optional Ethernet or Modbus TCP and service interfaces. DCS, PLC, SCADA, and historian mapping must be defined for the approved project configuration.
Alarms & Diagnostics
Concentration alarms, analyzer faults, diagnostic status, relay count, fail-safe behavior, tape and sample-system status, and remote alarm mapping will be defined by the final approved datasheet and ordered configuration.
Documentation
The final project package is expected to include the approved datasheet, operating manual, sample-system drawings, utility schedule, I/O list, communication information, calibration procedures, hazardous-area documents where applicable, and FAT or SAT records.
Commissioning Support
Planned commissioning scope includes sample-system and vent checks, flow and pressure setup, tape and humidification checks, zero and span validation, output and communication testing, alarm testing, response verification, and operator training.
Lifecycle Support
Planned lifecycle support includes H2S sensing tape, humidification consumables, sample filters, flow-path components, calibration gases, troubleshooting, spare parts, repairs, and long-term technical assistance.
Online Analyzer Configuration

Sample System & Online Analyzer Readiness

Reliable online measurement depends on the process interface as well as the analyzer. Confirm the following application data before final configuration and quotation.

Sample Type & Phase
Gas-phase samples for direct H2S measurement. Sample composition and phase must be confirmed for the selected range, materials, conditioning, and vent arrangement.
Measurement Range
Confirm normal and maximum H2S concentration, required low-ppb or ppm range, alarm points, and any percent-level service. High-concentration applications may require project-specific dilution.
Sample Conditions
Provide pressure, temperature, flow, moisture, condensate risk, particulates, corrosive components, gas composition, adsorption risk, and contaminants that can affect lead-acetate tape chemistry or sample transport.
Sample Handling
Define sample take-off, filtration, pressure and flow control, humidification, fast loop, stream selection, dilution where required, calibration routing, and safe venting.
Installation Area
Confirm backpanel, wall, rack, cabinet, or analyzer-shelter installation, ambient conditions, maintenance access, safe-area or hazardous-area classification, and required certification.
Utilities
Confirm electrical supply, sample gas, unrestricted safe vent, certified H2S zero and span gases, and instrument air or purge where required by the ordered installation.
Response Requirement
Define whether the result supports process control, alarm response, quality monitoring, or trending. Preliminary typical response is approximately 20-30 seconds to alarm or 90 percent step response, excluding sample transport; normal ppm cycle time is approximately 2-3 minutes and remains configuration dependent.
Integration Requirement
Confirm the number and scaling of 4-20 mA outputs, RS-485 Modbus settings, optional Ethernet or Modbus TCP, relay logic, DCS or PLC tags, historian requirements, and responsibility for wiring and signal mapping.
Commissioning Requirement
Verify the approved sample matrix and H2S range, sample conditioning, flow and pressure, safe venting, tape and humidification, any dilution system, zero and span validation, outputs, communications, alarms, response, and handover documentation.
