- Sample Type & Phase
- Conditioned gas from a Claus sulfur recovery unit tail-gas or related tail-gas treatment process, containing H2S and SO2 and potentially water vapor, sulfur vapor, acid gases, particulates, and other process components.
- Measurement Range
- Provide normal, minimum, maximum, startup, upset, and alarm concentrations for H2S and SO2, the required ratio and air-demand range, and the control objective. All final ranges and performance values remain project specific until the approved datasheet is issued.
- Sample Conditions
- Provide process pressure, temperature, moisture, sulfur-vapor and condensation risk, dust, acid-gas composition, oxygen, hydrocarbons, ammonia or other interferents, and expected startup and upset conditions.
- Sample Handling
- Define the extraction point, probe, heated transport, filtration, temperature control, pressure and flow regulation, condensation prevention, calibration routing, sample return or safe vent, and maintenance access.
- Installation Area
- Confirm analyzer shelter or cabinet, distance from the sample point, heat-traced routing, ambient conditions, maintenance access, safe-area or hazardous-area classification, and required certification.
- Utilities
- Confirm electrical power, heat-trace power, instrument air or purge, certified zero and span gases, calibration manifold, sample return or safe vent, drains where applicable, and communication cabling.
- Response Requirement
- Define whether the analyzer supports SRU optimization, ratio indication, air-demand guidance, alarm response, emissions-control process monitoring, or trending. Final response time will be governed by the approved detector and sample-system configuration.
- Integration Requirement
- Confirm 4-20 mA outputs for H2S, SO2, ratio, and air-demand where required, digital communication, DCS or PLC tags, historian data, alarm and fail-safe logic, and control-system ownership.
- Commissioning Requirement
- Verify extraction and heated transport, leak integrity, sample temperature and flow, zero and span gases, H2S and SO2 response, ratio calculation, air-demand output where configured, analog and digital signals, alarms, DCS mapping, and handover documentation.
