FAS-SW Trace Moisture & Dew Point Transmitter

Compact aluminum-oxide transmitter for continuous trace-moisture and water-dew-point measurement in demanding industrial gas service.

Brand: Vympel Manufactured by: LLC Scientific Production Association "Vympel", Russia Supply & support: Blue Dragon Technology
Product Overview

Purpose-built measurement, clearly presented.

The FAS-SW is a compact field transmitter for continuous measurement of water dew point in industrial gases. Its aluminum-oxide sorption sensor supports trace-moisture monitoring across selectable calibrated ranges, while the stainless measurement chamber and high-pressure design suit demanding gas-process and pipeline sampling arrangements.

Blue Dragon Technology supplies the FAS-SW as an application-engineered measurement point. Final selection covers the calibrated range, sample pressure and temperature, gas compatibility, pressure reduction, filtration, flow control, hazardous-area requirements, signal integration, and the required verification strategy.

Distinctive Capabilities

  • Compact transmitter architecture for continuous trace-moisture monitoring at the measurement point
  • High-pressure capability for demanding gas-process and pipeline sampling arrangements
  • Aluminum-oxide sensing platform for reviewed inert, aggressive, and hydrogen-containing gases
  • Simple analogue integration with DCS, PLC, recorder, or local display systems
  • Rugged field housing for hazardous-area and outdoor instrument installations

How it measures

Measurement Principle

Water vapor is reversibly adsorbed by a porous aluminum-oxide sensing layer, changing its electrical characteristics. The transmitter converts the compensated sensor response to water dew point and provides a 4-20 mA signal scaled to the ordered calibrated range.

Application Engineering Notes

Pressure basis

Water dew point depends on pressure. The required result should be defined at measurement pressure, line pressure, or an agreed reference pressure.

Sample-system response

Heat tracing, pressure reduction, tubing length, leakage, dead volume, and ambient exposure can dominate the response of a trace-moisture installation and should be reviewed with the transmitter selection.

Project Integration & Support Scope

Blue Dragon reviews the measurement objective, interfaces, documentation, commissioning, and lifecycle requirements as part of project configuration. The scope below identifies the principal items to confirm before order placement.

Measurement Objective
Continuous indication of trace moisture as water dew point in a conditioned industrial gas sample.
Signal Outputs
One 4-20 mA output scaled to the ordered calibrated water-dew-point range.
Data Integration
Connect the transmitter to a compatible DCS, PLC, recorder, or local indicator using the site-approved intrinsically safe loop design. Confirm range scaling, engineering units, alarm logic, cable requirements, and signal ownership in the I/O schedule.
Alarms & Diagnostics
Process alarms, bad-signal handling, and diagnostic logic are implemented in the receiving control system. The project should define low and high dew-point thresholds, signal-failure treatment, and any local indication required.
Documentation
The project package may include the manufacturer operating manual, approved datasheet, calibration or verification record, hazardous-area certification, wiring information, and sample-interface documentation as supplied or ordered.
Commissioning Support
Commissioning can include leak testing, pressure and flow verification, loop scaling, stabilization checks, comparison with a suitable reference, and confirmation of the sample return or vent arrangement.
Lifecycle Support
Lifecycle support covers application review, periodic verification, recalibration coordination, sample-system troubleshooting, spare filtration items, technical support, and replacement planning through Blue Dragon Technology.
