Automatic laser-optical chilled-mirror transducer for online water dew point and hydrocarbon condensation temperature measurement in natural gas.

Brand: Vympel Manufactured by: LLC Scientific Production Association "Vympel", Russia Supply & support: Blue Dragon Technology
Product Overview

Purpose-built measurement, clearly presented.

The CONG Prima-2M is an automatic chilled-mirror transducer for measuring water dew point and hydrocarbon condensation temperature in natural gas. It can operate in water-dew-point mode, hydrocarbon-condensation mode, or an alternating mode that registers both properties with one measurement cell.

The transducer is available for flow-through sample installations and direct-pipeline arrangements. Blue Dragon Technology reviews the required measurement mode and accuracy, pipeline and measurement pressure, gas composition, sample extraction, filtration, cooling, flow, installation environment, hazardous-area requirements, output type, and verification method before configuration.

How it measures

Measurement Principle

A temperature-controlled condensation mirror is monitored by a laser-optical system. As the mirror cools, the formation of water or hydrocarbon condensate changes the optical response, allowing the instrument to register the corresponding condensation temperature. The analyzer can repeat the measurement automatically and can alternate between water and hydrocarbon modes.

Engineering & Integration

Built for specification, installation, and long-term operation.

The CONG Prima-2M is a field transducer whose result depends on the pressure and thermodynamic state at the mirror. The installation must preserve a representative natural-gas sample while controlling liquids, pressure, temperature, flow, and environmental exposure.

Application Engineering Notes

Pressure basis

Water dew point and hydrocarbon condensation temperature vary with pressure. The measurement pressure and any contractual or reference-pressure correction should be defined in the project basis.

Representative hydrocarbon measurement

Filtration should remove damaging liquid or particulate contamination without stripping the representative heavy-hydrocarbon fraction that determines hydrocarbon condensation temperature.

Project Delivery

Project Integration & Support Scope

Blue Dragon reviews the measurement objective, interfaces, documentation, commissioning, and lifecycle requirements as part of project configuration. The scope below identifies the principal items to confirm before order placement.

Measurement Objective
Automatic online measurement of water dew point, hydrocarbon condensation temperature, or both alternately in natural gas at the defined measurement pressure.
Signal Outputs
The ordered transducer provides either RS-485 Modbus RTU or 4-20 mA. Final mode, scaling, registers, quality flags, and alarm handling are project specific.
Data Integration
Connect the transducer to the DCS, PLC, SCADA, historian, or local control unit using the ordered interface. Define the active measurement mode, engineering units, pressure basis, data quality, and any correction performed outside the transducer.
Alarms & Diagnostics
The project should define high water-dew-point and hydrocarbon-condensation alarms, measurement-cycle status, signal or communication failure behavior, sample-system alarms, and local or remote diagnostic indication.
Documentation
The project package may include the manufacturer operating manual, approved datasheet, metrological and hazardous-area certificates, connection and communication information, dimensional drawings, sample-system drawings, and commissioning records as ordered.
Commissioning Support
Commissioning can include installation inspection, pressure and leak testing, flow setup, mirror and sample-path checks, mode verification, output or Modbus testing, alarm simulation, and comparison with an approved reference instrument.
Lifecycle Support
Lifecycle support covers mirror and flow-path cleaning, filters, seals, pressure-control components, verification, troubleshooting, spare parts, metrological service coordination, and technical support through Blue Dragon Technology.
Online Analyzer Configuration
