Product Overview

Blue Dragon ElementX H1 Handheld XRF Spectrometer

The Blue Dragon ElementX H1 is a portable energy-dispersive X-ray fluorescence spectrometer designed for rapid, non-destructive elemental analysis directly at the sampling point. It enables field personnel to screen and compare ores, minerals, rare-earth materials, alloys, metals, and other compatible samples without sending every specimen immediately to a laboratory.

The instrument combines a high-performance Fast-SDD detector, an Ag-target X-ray tube, automatic filter selection, an industrial Linux operating system, an integrated touchscreen, internal data storage, wireless connectivity, and rechargeable hot-swappable batteries in a compact handheld platform.

Broad Elemental Coverage

Supports elemental screening from magnesium to uranium, subject to the selected application mode, calibration, sample matrix, and measurement conditions.

Fast-SDD Detection

An electrically cooled silicon-drift detector and digital pulse processor provide rapid spectrum acquisition and multielement analysis.

Non-Destructive Measurement

Samples can normally be screened without cutting, dissolving, or consuming the material, supporting faster field decisions.

Integrated Touchscreen

The integrated colour touchscreen displays measurement settings, elemental concentrations, spectra, historical records, and instrument status.

Field-Ready Battery System

Rechargeable lithium batteries and hot-swappable operation support extended work away from fixed electrical supplies.

Data & Reporting Support

Stores measurement records and supports spectrum review, report creation, USB export, and compatible CSV, PDF, and spreadsheet workflows.

Measurement Capabilities

Flexible application modes for elemental screening and material verification.

Ores & Minerals

Rapid field screening, elemental comparison, exploration support, and preliminary grade-control workflows.

Rare-Earth Materials

Portable screening of compatible rare-earth ores and materials using the appropriate installed calibration.

Alloys & PMI

Material identification, alloy verification, metal sorting, and positive material identification where the required mode is installed.

Precious-Metal Applications

Preliminary screening of gold-bearing ores and compatible precious-metal samples, subject to calibration and validation.

Available modes, work curves, displayed elements, and quantitative performance depend on the final instrument configuration supplied with the order.

Technology Overview

Energy-dispersive X-ray fluorescence analysis.

During measurement, the ElementX H1 directs primary X-rays onto the sample. The atoms within the sample emit characteristic fluorescent X-rays, and the detector measures the energy and intensity of those signals.

The instrument software processes the spectrum using Fundamental Parameter and working-curve methods. Elemental results are then displayed on the touchscreen and stored for review, export, and reporting.

Results are influenced by the installed calibration, sample composition, surface condition, particle size, moisture, geometry, preparation, measurement time, and spectral interferences. Representative standards and application validation are recommended for quantitative work.

Calibration, Data & Reporting

Configured for practical field workflows.

  • Factory calibration: The instrument is calibrated and adjusted before shipment.
  • Built-in calibration: An internal calibration standard supports routine instrument calibration.
  • External verification: A supplied standard piece may be used to verify instrument performance.
  • Application modes: Operators select the appropriate installed mode and test curve for the sample type.
  • Historical records: Test results, spectra, sample information, and operating data can be stored and reviewed.
  • Report output: Results can be saved, exported, and used in compatible CSV, PDF, spreadsheet, and printed-report workflows.
  • Remote support: Wi-Fi or USB networking may support authorised remote operation or technical assistance when properly configured.

Safety & Application Guidance

Operate only under approved radiation-safety procedures.

  • The ElementX H1 generates ionising radiation when the X-ray tube is energised.
  • Operation must comply with applicable national, local, and site radiation-control requirements.
  • Only trained and authorised personnel should operate the instrument.
  • Never point the measurement window toward any person or expose any body part to the primary beam.
  • The sample should fully cover the measurement window during testing.
  • Small, thin, irregular, or low-density samples may require a test stand and additional shielding.
  • Do not hold small samples by hand during measurement.
  • Quantitative performance should be validated using representative samples and appropriate reference methods.

The ElementX H1 is an elemental screening and analysis instrument. An unverified handheld result should not be used as the sole basis for regulatory compliance, custody transfer, commercial settlement, or a safety-critical decision.

Benefits

Faster field information supports better material decisions.

  • Rapid on-site screening: Obtain elemental information without waiting for every sample to be transported to a laboratory.
  • Non-destructive measurement: Preserve valuable samples and finished materials during routine analysis.
  • Improved field productivity: Screen more samples and prioritise specimens requiring laboratory confirmation.
  • Portable verification: Conduct measurements at mines, warehouses, processing facilities, scrap yards, and inspection locations.
  • Broad application flexibility: Use installed modes for ores, minerals, rare-earth materials, alloys, and other supported matrices.
  • Digital traceability: Store results, spectra, sample details, images, operator information, and measurement dates.
  • Reduced unnecessary laboratory testing: Use preliminary screening to focus laboratory resources on the most relevant samples.
